Our Services…

Speech & Language Therapy

Articulation therapy focuses on atypical speech sound productions characterized by substitutions, omissions, additions or distortions that may interfere with intelligibility.

Language therapy addresses impaired comprehension and/or expressive language and may include written expression.

Stuttering Therapy

The newer approach to stuttering therapy embraces the acknowledgement and acceptance of stuttering, verses more traditional aspects of therapy focusing on stuttering modification. Individuals are encouraged to explore new ways of approaching therapy, instead of the effort in “hiding” stuttering.

Childhood Apraxia of Speech

A motor speech disorder that makes it difficult to make accurate movements when speaking. Producing speech is quite difficult for these children.

Early Intervention

Early intervention is most powerful when Kalamazoo Speech Associates team with parents and caregivers to support children during their earliest interactions to enhance overall communication

We combine multimodal strategies and parent input to improve communication based on interests and familiar routines to make communication fun and meaningful to young children.

Neuroaffirming Groups

Small strengths based neuroaffirming groups are offered to embrace neurodiversity.  These groups are grounded in the approach that brains can function in different ways.  Group members are provided with a safe environment to support and respect differences.  We promote self-advocacy and celebrate the uniqueness of the individual..

Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders

OMDs refer to oral rest postures, a reverse swallow pattern, and may affect speech sound production. People are often familiar to the term “tongue thrust.” We address thumb/finger sucking and other detrimental oral habits.
